Option One: includes an easy grade 40 minute (return) walk to highest waterfall in the North Island, Mt Damper Falls (74m),  Visit Morgan's Grave (1893 surveyor) a great picnic spot in the heart of the magnificent podocarp forest of the Tangarakau Gorge.  Drive through the 187m Moki Tunnel (Hobbit Hole) built in 1936 then continue to the unique historical Whangamomona Village, decleared itself a republic in 1989, all part of the first heritage trail in New Zealand.  Option Two: three hour guided walks - tramping through native bush, rich in the flora and fauna of Eastern Taranaki with great views of mountains and National Parks and looking down on the Whangamomona Village or a guided farm walk, also offering amazing views of the stunning Makahu area and distance mountains; either one only carry a day pack Option Three:  Historical Whangamomona Road; Walk in pioneer footsteps and marvel at the efforts this road (now a track) must of taken to make.  Walk is 18km and takes 5-6 hours, moderate grade.  Starting at the 1936 Bridge To Somewhere (Aotuhia Station) and ending at Whangamomona Village, lovely river views with two tunnels and other bridges included.  Many other features your hosts will explain to look out for on this most popular day out; only carry a day pack.
